KKR Signs Tim Southee for the Second Phase of IPL 2021:- The second phase of IPL 2021 is set to start from 19th of September, 2021 and the outbreak of covid and the international series which were planned to be carried out left some of the IPL teams under pressure. All of the players of the squad may not be available for the remaining matches of the IPL.
Hence, teams are looking for the perfect replacement of the players who may miss the remainder of the IPL. With same point, Kolkata Knight Riders have signed the New Zealand pacer, Tim Southee for the second phase of IPL 2021 i.e., for the remaining 31 games of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Tim Southee would join the KKR squad as a replacement to Aussies’ fast bowler Pat Cummins. Cummins had been on superb form in the first phase of the IPL and KKR would be missing him for the remainder matches.
Kolkata Knight Riders have found the perfect replacement for PAT Cummins in the name of Tim Southee and we believe that he would deliver the best for his team.
Southee has been on superb form this year and had performed the best in the ICC Test Championship Trophy Final held this year. Southee went unsold in the auction of IPL 2020 and his last appearance came in the IPL 2019 where he played 3 matches for RCB and gave runs at the rate of 13 runs an over.
Tim Southee is not new to IPL as he an experience of playing IPL and has played 40 IPL mathces till now, where he has managed to pick up 28 wickets at an economy rate of 8.47 runs in an over. He has played with teams like Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore would would now join Kolkata Knight Riders.
Knight Riders are in placed seventh in the IPL 2021 points table with four points, winning two out of their seven games played. KKR are hoping that Southee would join his team mate Lockie Ferguson and grab early wickets for the team to help them qualify for the playoffs.
