IPL 2021 which was started on 9th April 2021, was paused due to the growing COVID-19 cases in the country. The second phase of IPL 2021 is no longer far away and it is to be resumed from September 19, 2021. IPL fans are eagerly waiting for the commencement of the second phase of IPL.
Several teams have started gathering in UAE to prepare for the second half of the IPL Season 14.
Though the second phase of IPL is going to be continued with new excitement, we’ll be missing some of the best players including Jos Buttler and Pat Cummins.
Not only them but there are also some other players who we will be missing this season.
Let’s have a look at the players who will be unavailable for the UAE Leg of Tournament:
1) Jos Buttler (England wicketkeeper-batsman):
Losing Jos Buttler will be a massive hit to Rajasthan Royals as they had already lost 4 matches in the first phase of the season.
Reason for missing IPL 2021: He and Louise are expecting to have a second child during the time of the second phase of IPL 2021. On August 21, 2021, Rajasthan Royals wrote on Twitter “Wish them well and can’t wait for the new member”.
Replacement: Jos Buttler will be replaced by Zealander Glenn Phillips who hails from New Zealand.
2) Pat Cummins (Australian Bowler):
Pat Cummins was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders for 15.5 Crores in IPL 2020 and since then he had been a backbone for KKR in bowling. However, KKR will be losing him in this second phase.
Reason: He and his wife are expecting to have a baby in the month of September or October.
Replacement: His replacement is not yet announced.
3) Jofra Archer (England Bowler):
Jofra Archer plays for Rajasthan Royals (RR) and has made a significant contribution to the team. However, RR fans will be missing him in the upcoming 2nd phase of IPL 2021.
Reason: He suffered an elbow injury and is going through a recovery process. He has been ruled out of IPL 2021 and could miss the World Cup too.
Replacement: Not yet announced however Andrew Tye is expected to replace him for the rest of the matches.
4) Ben Stokes (England All-Rounder):
Another Rajasthan Royals Player, Ben Stokes will not be playing the remaining matches.
Reason: He has taken a break from cricket for a short duration of time.
5) Adam Zampa (Australian Bowler):
An Australian bowler, Adam Zampa, who has been playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore will be unavailable for IPL 2021.
Replacement: Wanindu Hasaranga will be replacing Australian Leg Spinner Adam Zampa.
Other players to be missed and their replacement:
Daniel Sams (RCB): Dushmantha Chameera from Sri Lanka will be replacing him.
Kane Richardson (RCB): He will be missing the tournament for personal reasons.
Finn Allen (RCB): Finn Allen, who plays for RCB, will be replaced by Tim David.
Scott Kuggeleign (CSK): His replacement is yet to be announced.
Riley Meredith & Jhye Richardson: They both play for Punjab Kings. Ryle Meredith has been replaced by Nathan Ellis.
